Research

Research in my Lab focuses on fungal pathogen-host interactions and disease management with the development of bio-agents.  Current projects include:

(1) Molecular interactions of  Colletotrichum acutatum and chili pepper:  We use genomic, transcrptomic and genetic approaches to analyze the function of candidate effector proteins. We also establish a T-DNA insertion library to identify novel fungal development and/or pathogenicity genes.

(2) Molecular interactions of  Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and mango:  We use genomic, transcrptomic and genetic approaches to identify potential genes involved in fungal pathogenicity and sensing to host factor and various environmental stresses.

(3) Disease resistance in rice to Pythium:  We have identified several potential genes in rice which are involved in  resistance to Pythium. Currently we are working on characterizing their function, mechanisms and applications.
